French popularity functions: different measures, different determinants?

French popularity functions are under-studied, at least when as compared to vote functions. After a first wave of studies conducted in the wake of Lafay’s (1977) pioneering work, scholarly works on French popularity functions have been few and far between in the last two decades. And this, despite the fact that public opinion data on French popularity have been collected systematically for a long time.
