The Brazil Section at LASA invites its members to submit scholarly work for its annual prizes in the field of Brazilian Studies.  Submissions in Portuguese, English, or Spanish will be considered in the following categories:  a) the best book about Brazil (US$ 500); the best article on Brazil published in an academic journal (US$ 300); and the best doctoral thesis focusing on Brazil (US$ 200).

In all cases the Brazil Section award committees recognize innovative, rigorous, and well-crafted scholarship that contributes significantly to our understanding of Brazil, past and/or presente.

Only books and articles published in the 2015 calendar year are eligible. The same applies to Ph.D. dissertations which must have been approved in  2015. Interdisciplinary work is welcome! Electronic (digital) books and edited volumes won’t be considered.

All members of the Brazil Section are eligible to submit their work.  If you know a colleague who is not a member but would like to be considered for one of the prizes – book, article or doctoral thesis – please inform the person that it is a requirement to join  LASA and the Section before submission. Please spread the word.
